Mastertangler that looks to be quite a boat! I'm glad that it seems to suit you, it's always, at least for me, difficult to reach that decision point where I lay the money down. Do I understand you don't use a kayak paddle? I'm curious in that this last winter I bought the bending branches double bladed canoeing paddle and even in my prospector it seems to work well against the wind or if my shoulders are hurting. I'm a little embarrassed to be caught using it, unless in extremis, sort of collision between tradition and grim necessity.
From my vast experience of one (!) I can recommend the bending branches paddle, the thing appears to be well made and the snap together device works well. If the rudder vexes you in the long run, maybe using a double blade would allow you to just take it off. I was intrigued by your description of the seat/yoke; I'll look for info on the web site just how they carried that off. My canoe has a Teal yoke; not only does it work but it's a pleasure to see. I keep wishing the Teal folks would make a kneeling thwart that was sculpted out like that for my nether parts. Maybe this winter I'll make my own. Thanks for sharing, that's one lovely boat! Congratulations! Best Wishes, Rob |
