Title: 2013 WCPP Trip Plan/ Suggestions Post by Paddleman on Mar 25th, 2013 at 6:54pm
For the first time, I'm not going to enter the park using Leano Lake. I've decided to expand my horizons and save my truck and enter at Onnie Lake. Also, instead of the usual solo trip to WC, I'm taking a friend to show off the area. He's somewhat experienced with multitude trips to the BW, but time to expand his appreciation of true wilderness.
So far I have a many of ideas, but looking for some suggestions. 10 days on the water, with fishing, tripping and exploring. More interested in keeping with smaller lakes and creeks. Planning on spending two days on Glenn, but after that anything or anywhere is open. Going to be traveling pretty light, so a 12-15 mile day should be no problem. I'd like to hear from some of you that have traveled in this area. My experience has been mostly to the south end of the park. :dankk2 Paddleman |

My initial recommendation would be to include Royd Lake and then return via Indian House to Hatchet. I have sent you a Personal Message, we should talk.

Listen to Marten... :) I did! Put in at Johnson, went through hatchet over to Telescope and up to Glenn. Then Hansen, Roustel, Gammon to Royd. Do the "Minjim" Route back to Indian House and back to Johnson you go. Some challenges, but with good fishing and beautiful secluded paddling, your in for a treat. I did that trip two years ago in ten days. Spent a couple nights on Joey. Ate a lot of Walleye. The one thing I did different last year is upon leaving Joey, we took the shorter day option and stayed on High Camp, then got to Indian House. You can make it out, but it would be late. Or stay on Douglas and have a good day to travel the next. Worked out good.

I'd advise anyone planning on a WCPP trip to check out fire-damaged areas closely. A recent fire map should be closely examined by anyone entering. This link may be helpful: (You need to Login or Register A call to the park office well in advance is also strongly advised.
On the other hand, if you are OK with charcoal on everything, I doubt the fires impacted the fishing all that much. Later, Jimbo 8-) |
