In the past, I believe you did not need a Manitoba provincial parks vehicle permit to park at Wallace Lake. But maybe things have changed, and the info I am getting from the ppls at the Manitoba government is that now you do need a permit to park at Wallace Lake. :( |

Things have changed. I was looking at this info and see that Wallace Lake itself was included in the new South Atikaki Park in 2003. Reading further it appears that the parking area has always been in Wallace Lake Provincial Park but that park does not include the lake itself.

Manitoba Parks had a "fee holiday" for vehicle parking at parks for about a 3 year stretch when the economy went south. I believe they re-instituted it again last season.

Yep an annual MB Prov. Park past came into effect May 1 2013 for 40 bucks - up 10 bucks from years ago. Still cheap for what I can get year round in these places. But sad to hear this Heritage River (Bloodvein) is not up to par for visitors. A bit embarassing for being a Manitoban!
