Actually, I have a foldable solar panel that will run my depth finder.  I've not used it for a trip in favor of an 8-pack of lithium AA's because of convenience.  If I ever decide to go back to rechargable batts, the solar panel will be making the trip and it can connect to any device that has a USB  or cigarette-lighter type connector.  I've even put together an alligator clip connector if the others won't attach (but its not as water-resistant as the others.
