#3 Make a friend for life.....

After about the fourth day of a rigorous trip, suddenly and unexpectedly produce a Hershey chocolate bar and hold it out to your canoeing partner.

The response is quite profound, mesmerizing to the recipient. Time seems to stand still while your breath is suddenly halted, your heart rate increases and your eyes widen as they focus on the glimmering wrapper. It gives new meaning to the term "shock and awe"  ;)
