Good job Wayne,
Looking forward to seeing more video? After 2 years with us, Will is moving on for next summer. He will still be flying into the park from time to time though, only this time with a Turbine Otter. Harlan |

Same plane, same pilot, same park … different destination.
Great video, Wayne, can't wait to get back out there. |

Instrumental tracks are two songs from Adele's 21 album. First, piece is "Someone like You" followed by "Set Fire to the Rain." As far as the video is concerned ... wish I'd had a cleaner window to shoot through and time to set up a tripod for the plane departure sequence. I'll see if I can also create something interesting for the fly-out. I have a long sequence of the plane circling our location before setting down plus a few snipits of some the lakes overflown on the way out. Of course, I could also do a piece on various waterfalls, campsites, etc. we experienced on the trip. Maybe I'll have time to attend to those before too long. dd |

Indeed.......this was my first float plane ride. The guy seemed so young. Louder than I realized it would be, glad for the muffs. Two firsts in one day........1st helicopter ride and 1st floatplane ride all in the same day. Dd's video brought it all back.......neat getting the birds eye view. |

Always a moment when the plane flies away leaving you on some distant shore :)
Then weeks later catching sight of a plane flying in to pick you up after a great trip :) Gotta love those old radial engine Beavers. Thanks Wayne |

What did you shoot the video on? Pretty good quality for a handheld. Vimeo is a nice platform. Do you prefer that to youtube? My web guy mentioned that to me when I was developing my business website...but being relatively tech-less (and overwhelmed with developing the content :) I really didn't look into -- anyway, looking for a cost-effective, lightweight if possible, video camera for canoeing...thanks for the video! Great shots and really appreciated the subtitles to identify the lakes and what we were looking at!

Unfortunately, the video had to be degraded quite a bit to get it uploaded to Vimeo. The original version is 1.5 GB and to upload free, I had to get it down below 500 MB. The camera is a (You need to Login or Register which can shoot video in HD 1080p (with stereo sound) ... which looks very nice on a large flat-screen TV. While I didn't run the zoom out to the full extent in anything shown, it does have a manual (optical) zoom out to 30X (with optical anti-shake). I did add another lens that pushes the zoom to 50X optical. The camera is not particularly light at 1 lb, 11 oz, but for what it does ... its not a bad camera. I've been using it for canoe trips for the past 2 seasons, so I'm sure the technology has improved a lot since then. (I did give up taking a separate video camera with this choice, but I do sometimes take a smaller pocket model for quick pic's.) I seem to remember picking this camera up for under $300. Vimeo versus YouTube ... not a real choice ... just playing around with the different possibilities and Vimeo was easy to get started. dd |
