Anyone have experience with this brand of canoe trailer?  Looks like solid construction.  Canoe racks are remove-able so it doubles as a utility trailer.  Reports I've read say they hold up for "decades" since construction is of steel & not aluminum.

They will be at CanoeCopia this year displaying their 4 & 6 canoe version trailers.  If I can realize a substantial 'Copia discount, I might just snag one... pending any reconnaissance I may pick up here.

Thoughts?

Yeah, I've been all over that website and I've also  found a few dated on-line comments here & there across the web.  I just drove up to their "factory" a couple hours ago, hoping they might have some inventory lying about.  No luck.  Of course they weren't open (it being a Saturday).  Was hoping I might find a QJer or two with some actual experience using one OR experience with another brand for purpose of comparison.

In 4 weeks I'll check out the 4 & 6 rack models they bring with them to CanoeCopia.  I'm just trying to arm myself with info ahead of time to be more intelligent about a possible purchase.

Here are some thoughts. How much does this bad boy cost?  Would it be cheaper to buy a utility trailer and add the bars as a diy Project? One could add treated 2x4s painted with marine varnish.

Check the 'wear factor' on the canvas cover. You might want to add some support bars over the box. I would glue pipe insulation or pool noodles to all four top edges of the box.

Just my nickles worth. 8-)

I have kicked around getting a trailer but figured I would invest my time in convincing my partner that it was really in his best interests to get a trailer instead of me ;)

I'm kind of looking for my FIRST and LAST canoe trailer, if you know what I mean.

If I built the danged thing - including simply "upgrading" a utility trailer - it would probably fall apart after hitting the 2nd pothole.

If I am to believe their website info AND the miscellaneous comments I've found on other websites, their trailer is "bullet proof."  It's sturdy and, with all the options (canvas cover, L.E.D. lights, etc.) , it SEEMS to be what I'm looking for.

Mainly I'm seeking some "contra" views OR, perhaps, information re: some reasonably competitive product... which is hard to determine since, as Prouboy mentions, they don't even list "prices" on their website.  I'll likely give Remackel a call this week, then see how much better (if any) their price gets with the "'Copia discount."  Somewhere along the line I found a website posting (not on THEIR website) that a 4 rack model costs about $2200.  I'm guessing that doesn't include all the options.

Anyway, all the thoughts & comments are appreciated!

They've never had any trouble with theirs. I've borrowed it a few times and it pulls nice. Only downside of theirs is that they don't have the box for gear under the boats.

Thanks.  I've seen this & similar.  It's good to know this model holds up well, in case I choose to go that route.  I believe there are price savings but you're right, you lose the utility of the box underneath for storage... decisions, decisions.

Hey Jimbo... A friend of mine works at the Gunflint Lodge and they bought a Remackel trailer a year or so ago.  You can only imagine how much it gets used and they absolutely love it.  Excellent quality throughout.

I called Remackel on Monday.  I think I spoke to the owner based on the way he talked.  The price for the 4 canoe trailer is $2,775 and the price for a two canoe trailer is $2,700.  All the trailers come with the box, canvas cover, spare tire and all the others things shown on their website.  The only option is upgrading to LED lights for $50.  The rack comes off and then you have a utility trailer with 24 inch sides.  I think the only reason not to buy the Remackel trailer is the price.  The box is 5 feet by 8 feet.

Jimbo, you will probably be surprised at how much use you will get out out of a simple utility trailer, in addition to using it to haul your canoes.
I would strongly reccomend the LED light option.  I have replaced the standard lights on my fishing boat trailer and my utylity/4wheeler/canoe trailer with the LED lights.  They simply always work and are more rugged.

Wow Jimbo the size and cost of your yearly Copia indulgence is getting serious.

Early this week I did what Westwood did & called "Dennis" at Remackel & got the scoop on pricing, etc.  I'm arranging to meet him on Saturday morning at Copia.  Don't know for sure yet if I'll buy this year or next but I WILL buy.  I'm having a trailer hitch installed on my vehicle on Tuesday, in any case.

Everyone I've spoken with re: the Remackel trailer tells me the thing is indestructible... and that's what I'm looking for.  I doubt I'll be hauling one home from Copia (their factory is only a few miles from my house so, when the time comes, I'll just go pick one up) but you never know.

KF, the fact is I WAS in the market for one of those Subaru's but that issue got resolved last week.  My "new" vehicle is much better suited for toting a trailer than for throwing canoes on top of it.  That's sort of what prompted this crusade in the first place.
