Title: Chicago Burbs Wing Night
Post by Magicpaddler on Mar 24th, 2014 at 6:04pm
Myself and a couple canoe enthusiasts are going to meet at Falco’s on RT83 and south I55 frontage road Friday 3-28 at about 6:00 PM.  We plan on ordering and eating pizza at about 6:15.  We would be glad to have any one join us for canoeing, fishing, exploring, etc. conversation.
I am trying to collect data on how much current different fish detectors draw. Tim is bringing his fish detector and I will have a power source, bucket of water for the transducer and a meter to measure the current.  I would appreciate it if anyone else brought a detector for me to measure.

Thanks MP, looking forward to it. Let's see, last time i was at Falcos was about 30 years ago when they were a couple lots south of the current location.

Hey some folks have to make plans.......but some folk can just connect  8-)

Doing some work in Naples and stopped in at the Toyota dealership in Ft Myers to get a timing belt (it might be time after 275K-original belt>>thats called "borrowed time"). Who waltzes in? None other than Prouboy accompanied by his faithful canine. Of course I seized upon the opportunity and started giving him some jazz.  .........I was having some fun until he recognized me. To funny......

What does this have to do with Wing night? Nuthin, just thought you guys might get a kick out of it. I know I did.....whats the chance of that happening?

Magic paddler, unfortunately I have a calendar conflict and have to attend a 30th birthday party for my oldest daughter. I even get to meet her boyfriends parents. Ummm

I really wanted to hook up with you and the Burb gang and also test out my old Eagle fish finder. Maybe sometime we could meet over a beer and test it. I would like to set up a battery pack like the one you brought to Canoecopia. Also want to try a RAM mount too.

Walley
Sorry to hear you will not make it but your daughter will only be this age for and instant.
What works best for this kind of get together is for 2 or more people to agree to meet and then post your plans for others to join the party.  Zski sent me an email suggesting a meet then we set a place and date.  So if there is someone near you set it up and maybe we can join you.
Does your Eagle turn the back light on high bright during the bootup?

I will have to check for sure later .... But I believe my backlight does come on bright at boot up.

This old guy has trouble remembering anything these days

Last night was a good get together with 4 of us there.  Stumpy teased us with the location of next years bushwhack lake but no new clues. We discussed all the pertinent subjects fishing, campsights, fishing, campsights, portages, past bushwhack and good fishing spots. At an outdoor table we measured the current draw on a Lowrance X-4 fish detector. The power source was one of the rechargeable batteries I have been testing.  The party broke up at about 10:00.  Thanks zski for suggesting it.  During winter this should be a monthly event.

Good get together, good to meet Stumpy (great stories) and maybe we can work out a more central location next time if we know who's interested. Good work going on with the electronics project. Interesting how that list of pertinent subjects never gets old. There's a lot to learn in casual conversation from veteran trippers and folks that have been somewhere you haven't. The stab at narrowing down the bushwhack location wasn't much but it was obvious he wasn't budging.

Good to meet Zski. Good to see old friend Magicpaddler.
The time always flies by, at these get togethers, due to the fun & no shortage of conversation.
