Title: where is mncanoeing.com Post by Rocky on Jul 5th, 2014 at 2:17am
Has anyone heard from Ben Strege, and/or does anyone know what is going on with mncanoeing.com? The website has been down for awhile and Ben does not seem to respond to emails or Facebook.

Etherspace. No one can access website. It's been down for a week or so.
Draw your own conclusions. I'm glad for QJ which still has access to PCD. He also sold memberships before site vanished. |

Maybe he's on vacation or something. Stuff happens.

Patience. Like db said, stuff happens. Servers crash, sites are migrated between servers, IP's get blacklisted, etc.... If you have never managed a website, you don't know the half of all the stuff that can happen. From what I understand, he is in the middle of a pretty big project with mncanoeing, is he not? He had the courtesy to show up here so give him a break.
Or, here's a thought. Maybe he's on a frickin' canoe trip!!! Imagine that. A guy dedicated enough to build a canoe website is on a canoe trip?!?!? Amazing how we all turn into whiny bitches when we don't get what we want when we want it. |

This obsession with wanting everything 24/7 becasue technology allows it, is why were working more and enjoying life less. Even if we lost the old PCD and this new site, there are other alternatives on-line for planning trips. Here's one Mad Mat linked us too. (You need to Login or Register I know some people like to plan their trips down to the smallest detail, but at least for me and I suspect many others, the challenge of adapting to what you encounter is part of the allure of a wilderness trip. In the BWCA I can see why with the limited campsites available, it could effect your trip, but in the Q, you can camp anywhere you can stand to spend the night, and portages have no time limits for crossing, so just enjoy the ride and adapt as you go. |

I understand the lack of patience with my response. I hope I'm wrong. I am indifferent to the new site. I have not purchased a membership there. Time will tell. Peace to all.

All is well. The polar shift has not occurred, although the lakes are rising. The new guy is back and website up. Mea culpa. 8-)

He could be out paddling in the BWCA or the Q and the site went down. So just going to have to have a wait and see approach to this.

Yes, I was in the Quetico when it went down. It's back up. And old_salt, yes, the lakes are rising :) Highest water we've ever had up there.
