Title: Name that portage type pictures Post by db on Aug 17th, 2014 at 7:10am
Some portages have a spot that stick in my brain as a way to remember them. Here's two examples:
(You need to Login or Register (You need to Login or Register These happen to be caused be the portage crews that don't get enough respect IMHO but I expect you all have pictures from portages that make them memorable to you. The above two portages only needed one picture to place them. Certainly the first. Here's two more from one portage that I think together will resonate with anyone that has done it: (You need to Login or Register (You need to Login or Register My wife can describe a certain day of portages simply by saying that was the day I forgot to close my bottle of cherry kool-aid and it leaked all over her back and down her arms: (You need to Login or Register Question is, can you describe a portage in a picture or two that someone else can accurately name? |

Second photo is Nym to Batchewaung! It gave a false impression of what the rest of the Quetico portages were like!

;D You never forget your first! Yup, Fern to O and technically, Phoenix is correct on both counts. There's at least two portages featuring the raised sidewalk look 'n feel. It's ingenious. How are they holding up? They looked virtually permanent and easily repairable to me. Next. |

Pajeff, Is your pic Rebecca Falls?

Jim, not Rebecca, but I can see why you might think so. Photo looks pretty generic as far as falls go, it is not a good representative photo but the portage comes close there. Much more dramatic looking up from this point. I have that shot somewhere on film, I'll find it and post. Throw another one up in the meantime.
