Title: Sun runners hat Post by mastertangler on Aug 22nd, 2014 at 5:12pm
I have mentioned this article of gear before but its worth mentioning again. I'm a big fan of this hat for a number of reasons. First off its not made from a thick material. You don't overheat while your wearing it.
And being from Florida I have looked at just about every hat made that has a cape. Most are poorly designed are heavy, hot and dorky looking. The sun runner hat is a distinct exception. It quickly fastens via a couple of snaps to the front brim. The cape is easily removed and presto you have an ordinary ball cap. Now comes the part which may catch your attention........your on a portage trail and the biting flies are aggressive or the skeets keep finding the back of your neck. Pull the super lightweight cape out of your front pocket and bingo 2 snaps and your in business. Hide those ears and you will reduce flies by at least 75%. Don't believe me? Try it sometime. I think those white ears act just like neon signs...."free food, stop in for a bite". Cover those ears and your fly problems will diminish substantially. One tiny tip......the cape is very lightweight so I put a patch (Quetico wilderness fisherman) in the lower center rear to give it a little bit of weight to help keep it down. Yes I know its a pricey little piece of gear but performs exceptionally well. (You need to Login or Register |
