Hmm, all good points and pictures. 

I used to wear a vest on canoe trips that had a zillion little pockets and hooks and pouches.  It was comical (and sad) to see me pat myself down trying to find something, and not remembering what thing went in what pocket. 

So now I just have pants pockets and a backpack. 

Whatever works!
