Amen to that.  Greatest thing since sliced bread.

pumping water used to be my least favorite camping task....by far. Especially when the plunger would get a bit stiff......arrrrgh! Now blowing up my air mattress is my least favorite task but I digress.

I have been using the platypus for several years now and can offer my suggestions FWIW. I find the zip lock tops a hassle to close and subsequently I just leave them open. This can result in "stuff" falling into your reservoirs usually in the form of tree bark. If I use a branch to hang with I will often take the time to remove the bark......quickly accomplished with a decent blade.

The problem with gravity filters as I sees it is they take a wee bit of time. They are great for when you are in camp but on travel days I have found this product to be superb. It is also handy even while in camp at times when you want a bit of water and you want it now. Battery life is very good and on a 2 week trip I only had the gizmo do down 1/3. The bottle stays on my hip with a normal lid (included) while the part that does the work is stashed away where I can retrieve it quickly. Very handy gadget, quick and the all important "hassle free".
