Hello Tim,
Thank you for writing us. I am happy that you already have your eyes set on summer and paddling! This year the Lac LA Croix First Nation guides are permitted to use the following lakes for motorised guiding in Quetico Provincial Park – Motorised guiding is not permitted on any other lakes in 2015: 1) Quetico 2) Crooked 3) Tanner 4) Cirrus 5) Minn 6) Iron 7) Wolseley 8) Beaverhouse 9) McAree 10) Poohbah On a related note, very few of these lakes are regularly used for motorised guiding and Lakes such as Beaverhouse and Quetico Lakes have not had guiding activity at all for the past two seasons. Don’t let the appearance of a lake on the motorised guiding list discourage you from visiting a lake or area that you really wish to explore. Once you get away from the lakes directly around Lac La Croix motorised guiding is quite rare these days. If you ever do happen to run into a guide form Lac La Croix, the fellows the business are a friendly and wealth of knowledge about the park, fishing spots, and cultural information about the park and surrounding area. They like to meet and to talk with Quetico paddlers. I hope you have a wonderful trip this summer. If you have any more questions while you plan your trip, we have a trip planning telephone line at the park which is answered Mon-Friday. The number to call is (807) 597-2735. Only 2 months until open water season! Happy paddling Trev Trevor Gibb Park Superintendent – Quetico Provincial Park 108 Saturn Ave, Atikokan, ON, P0T 1C0 |
