Title: Ontario Atlas?
Post by Ranger on Feb 23rd, 2015 at 3:54am
Here in the states we have these nice DeLorme Atlases for every state. What is the equivalent for Canada?

Or failing that: what is the best map source that people use for planning crown land trips? I'm looking for high level planning detail, similar to the DeLorme books that I mentioned.

This should put you on the right track?
First is a DeLorme type book, I think it shows Crownland but I don't know if would give the detail you want?

2nd is a Ontario Gov source for downloadable/printable maps.

Maybe the atlas would give you the Crownland locations and you could get the Topo maps form the goverment source?

the link should take you to online topos - you can either zoom in, or use the search box - Kawnipi Lake works well for Quetico since it is a unique name - something like "trout lake" would probably get a lot of resultes and you'd have to be able to pick the one you want

myCCR.com = Canadian Canoe Routes - lots of info - look at the Board Index for the province you want, and you can find trip reports that may help - assuming someone has been thre done that and wrote it up

I think you can layer toporama to show crown land, though I've never tried  - that crown land atlas that ST linked to is likely your best bet.

not quite what you were asking for, but they are useful tools, so I posted them
