I met one of your compatriots (CIDA/Ottawa) at a training in DC a few years back who informed me that Minnesotans were considered "honorary Canadians"?  :o Not sure if that is anything more than cold comfort but just thought I'd mention it...

Judging by the movie Fargo, Minnesotans even sound a bit like us.  That is cold comfort!

As for me,, still Fort Wayne, IN. or Grayling, MI. But thinking of selling the Indiana house and moving farther north. I hear Marquette, MI is nice. You can't have too much snow.

I grew up in Pengilly. My parents still live there, and it is my staging area for all of my canoe trips. We might be able to do a two-person wingnite when I'm passing through sometime  :)

If someone plans one in - oh - west to southwest Chicago burbs, I'll try to attend. I've planned two and would like to just attend. Find a bar and grill with a corner they'll save for us, post lots oof announcements, and show up. Invite CCBBers, and only maybe BWCA.COMers if you want.

I live just on the eastern edge of "The Hill Country."  Even at that, the nearby lake (under 5 miles from my front door) where I do a lot of my walks has some 80 foot vertical cliffs right on the shore line.  And although the area is considered dry, I've located a reasonably large number of free flowing springs along the lake shore (and elsewhere).

Jon, I help with a youth retreat at camp Wapogasset every year around Labor Day. I will have to look you up next time I am out there.
