Wildlife fires are natural and essential to a healthy boreal landscape... and for maintaining caribou populations.  Too long to get into here but there are benefits to letting burn and this practice is now being adopted more widely outside of the park systems by forest fire managers.  Values such as cabins, boats, sensitive sites receive protection and fires are all closely monitored.  When park visitors register at the park prior to their trip, we document their trip itinerary and we will refer to these itinerary when a fire is approaching a canoe route.  We do fly the area and divert folks if needed... close routes, and provide fire updates.
