To answer MP's question, my thought is to rent inflatable rafts which are designed for this kind of travel. That said, it can be done with a canoe or kayak. My guess is that shipping costs may exceed rental costs.

I'm hoping to have some preliminary cost estimates to post this weekend or next week.

I'm also hoping to present a couple of shows on Alaska at Copia. Won't know that until December. Make your plans to attend.
