The story of the prodigal son is 2000 years old.  No explanation was given for the "why" of it then.  So it is today hard to figure.  It just is.  We have a daughter the same age as this "person of interest" and I tell you, some of the stuff she dumps in our lap is no less interesting.  With each crisis comes our love and support.  Maybe one day she will come to her senses, maybe not. But in the mean time, it will be poor judgment to bend to her every drama.  The first question is whether this guy is a prodigal.  If so, let him alone.  I have no reason to believe he isn't much different from the Chris McCandless type.
