Try to go as light weight as possible. I made that mistake on my first solo, taking along too much stuff. Too much food was my primary downfall. I found that I don't eat as much when I'm solo, and I definitely prefer easy to prepare / easy to clean-up meals. I'd rather be fishing than doing dishes.

Are you taking a dedicated solo canoe? If not there are ways to set up a tandem for more efficient solo paddling. Many people also like to use long kayak paddles for solo trips.
