I went shopping for newer rain gear and saw this. I was thinking washing mine less was better for it, but looks like I should be washing it more often.

It has great advice for all types of outdoor gear.
I think keeping gear clean is always the best policy and I know from my Army experiencing, that clean gear, dried propeller before packed away and stored in proper conditions means everything.

The right soap and proper washing technique is equally important.

I watched a guy one time in a laundry mat wash his family sized tent in a jumbo washer with a box of Tide detegent and then into a hot dryer.

I tried to tell him that wasn't a good idea and to read the Care Instructions but he wasn't hearing it.

When he pulled it from the dryer, the factory seamsealer on the seams had come loose and was hanging in sheets inside and outside the tent.

The guy was mad as hell, I was more than slightly amused ;) ::) ;D
