Ditto Solus, I had one since 2001 when they first came out. I'm comfortable in racing canoes and go 180#. If you're confident with it, you'd be surprised how well it handles rough water, I'm just grinning in that stuff. But it'll catch the wind so you need to have your trim right. It's a lot of boat in tight upstream paddling but I can lean it very hard. I think you'd have to consider yourself an advanced paddler to really like it in all conditions otherwise count on staying on shore more days than you might in other solos.
Northwood Solo looks great but good luck finding a used one. P. S. If it's the right price you can always try it and resell it if it doesn't work out. |
