Title: Lodging at Copia.
Post by Old Salt on Oct 4th, 2017 at 4:38pm
With the increasing popularity of Copia,  it is becoming more necessary to secure lodging if we want to have it as our QJ group.

We anticipate following a similar pattern as in the past couple of years, in booking a meeting room in a motel and having dinners on Friday and Saturday nights. This is NOT a dinner count thread. We're glad if you're planning on it, and we will eat. We always do. ;D 8-) Copia is March 9-11, 2018 and can be found at:   (You need to Login or Register;  8-)

MuleLars may chime in on this as he is doing some research as one of our many QJ locals in Madison. We accept input from other QJers as well. We want to know your opinion.

Option 1) Continue as we have at Country Inn & Suites at 400 River Place in Menona. Last years rate was $115 per night. I think we can get that rate again.

Option 2) Move to Days Inn & Suites at 4402 E Broadway, slightly farther away. Similar amenities to above, including breakfast. Approx $85-90 per night.

Option 3) Something else???

Another thing we are working on is trying to get free or a reduced rate on meeting room use for both Friday and Saturday nights. We may need to book a minimum number of rooms to make this happen. Are you willing to support this by agreeing to book at the 'QJ' motel? If so, please indicate. Results are non-binding, but helps us to put this great event together. Feel free to post regarding your past experiences telling us what you like or don't like about how this event is put together. 8-) Each year, we have seen more and more QJers come to The Rendezvous. 8-)

I like the Days Inn idea. I'd prefer to have my own room and don't anticipate spending a lot of time in it.

Cheaper is good, but not always better.  I'll defer to those that may have more 411 on a different venue.  If a couple more bucks per night help support a free meeting room, I can get behind that.

There seems to be a fair amount of indifference on this which tells us to not mess with success. We will continue to use the Country Inn & Suites as we have the past couple of years. 8-)

There will be more information posted after the New Year.  8-)

Have a great Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!! As usual, if you have any suggestions, please post or pm. Thanks!

We’re beginning to think about Copia next year, thanks to BillC in another thread. The choices are about the same, so I will resurrect the poll. Looking ahead to Copia helps to navigate the winters around here.  8-)Cast your vote and give us your input. 8-)

I thought it was a really nice set up last year.  I'm going to stay at whatever motel y'all decide on.
