Title: Obituary
Post by Jimbo on Oct 6th, 2017 at 8:33pm
All QJers -

Please note the passing, at approximately 3:27am this morning, of a hundred billion Quetico/BWCA mosquitoes.  The area experienced a significant "hard freeze" with recorded temps of 27 degrees Fahrenheit and lower across the range.  Cause of death was, presumably, "exposure."   These dipterous insects are of the family Culicidae.  The Culcidae family did not authorize an autopsy for confirmation. The blood line of the Culicidaes dates back into antiquity.  They are probably best known for their female family members who have a propensity for sucking the blood of animals and humans.  Consequently, very few mourners were present at the time of their demise or at the mass funeral.

There are no known survivors.

May we rest in peace.  Amen.

They'll be BACK, but I can see why you're happy about this.

Well. . .the title of this post did really give me a shock when I first saw it, as I know our dear friend NCTRY Ben is back in the hospital again!  I was so afraid it was serious!  Gasp!

But after reading, I guess I can just raise a glass of good small-batch bourbon in a toast to the dearly departed small ones up north, and hope that before too long they will also be gone around here!  As well as the box elder bugs and stink bugs which are the current scourge of our existence!   :(

I think we are a ways from a hard freeze around here.

Maybe a hundred billion died, but I will bet you not all of them died in that hard frost.

Even though I have donated so much to their survival I am not saddened by their demise.

I was praying for a night like this on Sturgeon earlier this September.
