Title: Annual QJ Copia Rendezvous Post by Old Salt on Jul 16th, 2018 at 3:15pm
We have enjoyed our annual gathering for the past several years in Madison. MuleLars, Wally 13, and I have served as a sort of ad hoc planning committee to plan these gatherings. MuleLars is our local ‘boots on the ground’ to contact the motel and make dinner arrangements. 8-)
As my wife and I are approaching her retirement next summer, we are planning a move that will make my continued involvement difficult or impossible. I do plan to work with these two and anyone else who may want to become involved in the planning for the March 8-10, 2019 Copia. We will need for someone to volunteer to assume leadership for 2020 and beyond. A few years ago, we transitioned from a simple Saturday dinner at a local restaurant, to an expanded event at the Country Inn and Suites. We gather informally on Friday afternoon and evening as well as on Saturday evening for our annual dinner. 8-) Many have commented that these gatherings have become a primary reason to attend Copia. 8-) If you want to consider assuming this planning role, please contact me by email, pm, or posting here. I will try to answer any questions you may have. Again, next years Rendezvous is a great time and we encourage you to save the dates and plan to attend. 8-) This is NOT the place to announce your plans to attend or sign up for the dinner. That will come later. This thread is to discuss the transition of leadership planning. If you have any questions or input for MuleLars or Wally 13, please direct it to them. Thanks! 8-) |

Could be one of those or none of those. We are not far enough along to make any announcement, yet. Suffice it to say, we will be a long way from Madison. When we decide, I will share it here. 8-)

Tom T’s reply made me think that perhaps we can have some fun with my mystery retirement plans. Voting will be open until I announce our plans. Go ahead and take a guess, post any questions, insights, etc. Even if you think you know, our plans may have changed...
We have lots of time, let’s have some fun! 8-) |

ST’s song, North to Alaska, was the theme of our daughters party 10 years ago when they moved to Alaska.
Jimbo’s Sinatra tune is one of my favorites. We feel like we have a few good years left. Thanks guys! 8-) |

This is NOT a contest to guess the least likely outcome. ;D Your effort to get rid of me is duly noted. ;) 8-) 8-) |

You have purchased The Country Inn and Suites in Madison with your retirement nestegg and will be onsite year round so you never miss a moment of Copia or the Bull Session that goes with it.
Do I get a prize for the correct answer??? MossBack |

I can only wish that my nest egg was large enough to complete that purchase. ;D I do thoroughly enjoy our annual weekend escape, along with the running of the bulls (in more ways than one ;) ). Madison always extends us a warm welcome, 8-) usually warmer than the March weather. 8-) I will certainly work with our ad hoc group and plan the next one, and look forward to it. The idea of a prize is intriguing, and I think I may be able to find some good ones. I must have something around here somewhere.
I will submit a speaking proposal regarding Alaska Fishing, when the time is right. I am speaking on that very topic at the Fall Outdoor Expo in Minneapolis, on November 17. 8-) |

I voted for Grand Marais- Alaska is special but suffers from lack of zoning.

db's basement is the leading contender :). Why not Jimbo's basement instead? He's got a pink flamingo and an awesome wind sail to keep company :) :)
