Title: Kingfisher sighting
Post by HighnDry on Dec 6th, 2018 at 3:19am
So, I can't be sure that it was really him, but I thought I crossed paths with this auspicious gentleman and a group of 4 he was with up on Knife Lake, portage number two of those dink and dunk portages before reaching Melon. It had just poured that morning (this past Labor Day w/e) and my daughter and I, rainsoaked and tired were floating off the portage waiting for about 3 canoes and 8 people to eventually get their act together and push-off....you've all been there...Enough of them finally did and created an opening. After we landed and unloaded, someone looking very much like KF came bounding over the rock face and immediately asked if he could carry something back over. I mumbled something (with the canoe over my head) about "not troubling himself with our gear. But without hesitating, he grabbed my pack with the dumbells and a daypack and bounded back over that 15 rod portage which made our transit that much faster.

Long story short. It looked like him. Talked and walked like him --- but I could be wrong. Anyone know if he was in the area that weekend or just another kind canoeing soul?
