Well, well Captain Marten Bligh, did they mutiny and set you adrift on Poodle Lake?

You could cut the tension with a knife and if tension was all they wanted to cut I would have slept better. One paddler had come from Virginia and one evening I made the mistake of mentioning the civil war. He sprang off his stump and with a finger jabbing at my face informed me it was some long name that had northern aggression in it. There were no Walleye to fillet so the amount of time this man spent honing his knife was very unsettling.

Our camp spot was a good one at least. Tents were scattered about and mine was strategically located. I trimmed a narrow tunnel and then cleared a tent pad. The final touch was hanging a bear bell across the entry tunnel. Bears were not my concern!
