I enjoyed reading this account.  It's something I would love to do but not solo.  I'm not versed in river travel so would have to go with experienced people.  I'm also not so sure I would handle all that grayness and constant wind.  Then there's the insects.  But, the adventure factor would be very high and that really appeals to me.  Kudos to you for doing it solo. 

I am curious what bear protection you brought?  Did you ever use the sat phone?  Thanks for the write up and pics.

As for me and the doldrums - I'm thinking of getting a new stove and maybe a pot along with an Inreach at Copia.  I'm reading Farley Mowat again!  His WWII memoir "And No Birds Sang" is really well done.  Highly recommend!  I've read a few of his books long ago (1980's) and will soon order a few more.  Just a fabulous writer and lover of all things nature.

I'm also thinking of a route for next years "Pierna or bust!" trip.  I'm thinking North Bay through Shade Lake and take the Yum Yum portage into Kahshahpiwi.  Layover on Sark to have time to scout a route for the bushwhack to Pierna.  On the way out I'd love to camp on Irene Lake and maybe explore the no names to the north.  Then take the bog portage out of Kahsh back home.  I think 12 nights should be fine. So, I've got THAT to daydream about.  :)
