I have a Garmin etrex 30. It's a handy little unit but it only displays a map that I have to download. My other limitation is that I have a tracfone which doesn't get cell phone service in Canada and I frankly don't know if it could pull in a wifi signal up there. It also is of that age where it's going to need to be recharged daily. So I'd be looking at some USB chargers and a portable solar panel.....hmmmmm.

I'll keep looking around for options for electronic maps. Maybe there's something else out there that I haven't considered without having to 1) buy a new GPS device and/or 2) buying a new smartphone  ;D
