Depending on what type saw you choose, there is a difference in how they cut. A Japanese style saw (Silky/Corona) cuts on the pull stroke. Here's a comparison of a smaller Japanese style saw vs a western style MUCH bigger buck saw that cuts on the push and pull. Little guy just barely loses.

  By the way, the guy with the Katanaboy saw was right when he said there was a LEARNING curve with the Japanese saw. He was pushing DOWN on the forward stroke like you do with a western bucksaw.
That slows your cut AND tires you out too. Push forward easy, pull back, the razor sharp blades do the work. When he figured that out, he caught up fast and finished strong.

  On big logs, I'll undercut them first and then finish from the top.
