Novacraft also has a hybrid material that they use called Blue Steel. I kid you not.

It's essentially an aramid and carbon fiber hybrid material. Filled with an olefin fiber and vinylester resin. Strong but still lightweight. This might be a an option to consider. The Northstar B17 is essentially the same construction.
