The whole hammock instead of tent idea never made sense to me for canoe camping.
That said, I have two questions. #1 - Hammock, tarp, under quilt, ropes and whatever. What's it all weigh and how much pack space does that all that take up. #2 - How long does it take to rig compared to a tent.
I mean, you can get tiny little one person tents, right? You wanna save weight and time just get a bivy sack.
Oh, and Buzzzt! :D |

Also, a couple of folks have told me they sleep better in a hammock, less aches and pains than from laying on a tent pad.... |
I like napping in a hammock BUT your personal sleeping style will have a big say in whether a hammock is for you.
I roll side to side, rarely sleep on my back. Put me in a hammock overnight and someone would have to untwist me in the morning! ;) ;D ;D
You can always cut weight, figure the best/fastest way to hang a hammock. Before I spent the money for a good hammock and accessories, I'd see if I could borrow someone's set-up and spend a few nights in the backyard to see if it's for you?
