There simply are no official or park recognized campsites in Quetico backcountry. They just been developed over time. Always best to use established sites for LNT principles.

I think using "established" sites is NOT always the best depending on how many possible campsites there are AND how over-used they are.

The few times I camped in the bush, I left no trace visible from the water. I didn't have a campfire although I could have and no-one would have known anyone camped there.

I hated it when the BWJ started doing that feature showing/highlighting where the best 4-5 star campsites were. I rarely stay at a 4-5 star campsite, because often they are way bigger than a solo paddle needs. I prefer the less used more overlooked campsites.

Not against LNT principals but sometimes it's better to go off the beaten path.  ;) ;D ;D
