Solus, thanks for the tip on the Zoleo weather forecast.  That is exactly what I was seeing, a rainy river forecast for my current location. I will try to change it to Atikokan next year and hopefully get a more precise forecast.  I also bring a small radio with earbuds that I like to listen to in the tent and sometimes I pick up a forecast on on that, but those are often vague and seem to cover a large part of the province, so not really useful.

Solotripper, I too use weatherunderground and print out their 10 day forecast the day we leave.  Often it is very accurate, at least the first few days and if it does differ, the weather patterns often follow through, just a day sooner or later.  I try to print the whole chart, so I zoom my browser to maybe 75% and then take a print screen and paste it in paint and crop as desired.  Finally I take my print out and go back to the website and I found if I drag my cursor along from left to right I can find the peak times for temperature, rain chance, and wind and I make a note of those times by hand.  This information can be really useful when planning day trips to potentially avoid getting stuck in bad weather.  It is handy to know too when the wind direction might change and the direction it is likely to be from.
