When I first replied that I was staying at the unoccupied site the bow guy got upset. His remark that I should have paddled around to check came off like it was on me to do that. He then asked who my outfitter was. I told him I outfit myself. Then told me I was rude. Next he said he wouldn’t be able to sleep not knowing what I might be up to.

I was thinking this guy listened to too much AM talk radio.

I then started making some small talk with the stern guy who seemed to be keeping his cool. After chatting he told me about another site on another island nearby. I said I’d leave my gear where it was, check it out, and then decide if I wanted to move.

We eventually did leave but it was a very bazaar experience.

I chalked it up to just a sign of the times we’re in today. But definitely worth sharing. Part of me thought I should have stayed just to mess with them. But really not worth it. We had some laughs about it though.

The stern guy was saying he would LET us stay if all the other sites were full. I thought what does he think, LET us stay. As if what?

No “thank you” when we left either.
