Title: Flashlights?
Post by db on Feb 15th, 2024 at 9:10pm
I bought this flashlight maybe 40 years ago. I found it again today and after some TLC (toothbrush and baking soda) ... it's alive! It takes 4 AA batteries.

I've purchased a similar from Menards that took 4 D cells but it didn't have the spotlight I expected so I returned it.

I have a newer rechargeable one that's nice (it'll even recharge my phone) except it has a USB cord that's built in. Not a fan 'bout that cord.

Long story short. Anyone know of a similar AA, C, D or 6volt (battery) powered flashlight/lantern combo that has a similar lantern/beam ability?

I have the exact same combo but retired it for something much better/brighter with more features?

It's LED which is a plus. Will run on rechargeable batteries but runs best on some good copper top Duracell's.

The lantern is way brighter but not 360, more like 90 degrees. Has 5 light modes. One is a emergency SOS strobe visible for up to 2 miles.

Another is the emergency strobe for self-defense.
Whether man or BEAR, it is extremely disorientating. Don't try looking at it unless you want to learn first-hand how it works.  ;) :o :'(

I have a older version minus the magnetic base and the separate lantern button.

You won't believe how bright it is!

I bought one similar to yours a few years ago at Menards. I’ve looked for it there and similar stores but haven’t found another or anything similar to it. It’s a good light to have around for power failures and doing various odd jobs. I hope someone can find it and fill us in. 8-)

I also have one of these. If you want to go "green" and want something that gives a nice area light and floats as well, this might be for you. It's very light as well. Charges by USB too. My older model doesn't.

Mine is a older model with a smaller solar panel.
They also have ones that will power/recharge small electronic devices.

I am a fan of these super cheap pen LED lights and keep several around the house/car/garage/basement.  The COB LED gives off a good general lighting and it also has a spotlight on the end for a more focused beam.  Powered by 3 AAA batteries.  There is a clip on the backside and a magnet on the end opposite the spotlight.

I have one of those Eveready lights in my truck - always works .

I just ordered 3 Minimag 2AA lights - with the "old fashioned" Xenon bulb ( I have many extra bulbs) - I lose these things, or they get corroded from leaking batteries and I have to throw them out.  The ultimate application of the KISS principal - I looked in 3 or 4 stores for them and nobody carries the minimag anymore, they want to sell fancier, more expensive lights - which I don't want - I have several headlamps that I have to click thru several options every time - hate that.  Nope, KISS for me.
