Title: Does anyone here do Killarney PP? Post by Mk631 on Mar 12th, 2024 at 2:07am
I've looked at Killarney because it borders the bay where we have a cabin & some of my son's friends have thought about canoe camping there, using our place as a launching point. I introduced them to canoe camping in Quetico, so I'm interested in comparisons. I know it's a wilderness park, and I know many lakes are dead due to the old nickel smelter in Sudbury, so fishing is probably not as good! I've done the online searches and have maps so I know the portages are relatively long.
But any first hand info would be appreciated! -Tom |

Paging Jimbo to the red courtesy phone. Jimbo is our dead lakes specialist. He’ll point you in the right direction with some savvy advice. 8-)

On the other hand, with so much pollution in those waters, who knows what interesting mutations may have come to pass.
Alas, though I've been to many parks north of the border, Killarney is not among them. Be sure to report back on any irregularities you may observe. You know, an excess eyeball or two, multiple tails, mudwalking... that sort of thing. Later, Jimbo 8-) |

Kevin Callan is the man when it comes to Killarney. He's shot several feature videos of his trips in there and I even have a book or two of his with some good canoe routes through there.

I would get this map IF you don't already have it? I have their Quetico Map and it's a valuable tool. I trust the portage locations/distances on Chrismar vs McKenzie or Fisher.
