Title: POD Thread
Post by Jimbo on May 18th, 2026 at 4:44am
Since I can't seem to find the old POD thread (very strange), I'll stick up this new one. Today''s remarkable POD by Spartan1 deserves some attention.

In my opinion, one of the best-ever PODs, Spartan1!

Thanks for your comments, Jimbo.  I have been really enjoying this series of POD's by my husband, all taken on our penultimate canoe trip in 2012.  It was a wonderful trip with HoHo, David and Piwi, and allowed us to return to our favorite BWCA lake, Cherokee, one last time.

That's our dear friend Bill, otherwise known as HoHo, silhouetted in the bright morning sun.

And it is nice to have the POD comment thread restored, too.   :)

I'm enjoying the throwback pics as well SP2!
Today's POD is one of a kind for sure!
Seems almost otherworldly in a way.

Thank you, Mk and Jimbo.  Evidently our esteemed leader has reached back into some old trip reports to find this group of photos from our time in the canoe country in 2012.  I must confess that some of these recent photos have surprised even me, but the one today is a favorite that brings a tear to my eye even this many years later.  She loves the canoe country.  She will be the one who makes sure that our ashes get to the BWCA someday.  And she was and still is the least of a “morning person” we have EVER known!  So this photo with her Grandpa in the morning mist. . .it was an aberration and a one-time possibility!  I love it!   Just looking at it takes me back to that morning and makes me want to take out the book from that trip and look at all of the photos again.

Maybe I’ll do that.  I’m retired.  I can waste some hours in a morning if I want to.   ;D

You don't want to be out in open water far from shore when you see this front come rolling in! :o ;D

If you didn't know better you would think you were at the ocean with a big wave crashing in!

I can say with a certain level of confidence who probably built that   (You need to Login or Register. We added welding gloves to our equipment list around 2002 for the sole reason of moving hot boulders.
