The explanation is quite simple, really.  There are 2 reasons for your incredible success catching walleyes from camp:
1) You were wise enough to make an appropriate sacrifice to the great Brad Lake Walleye God, remember?  Tossing your 1st fishing pole into the depths (all 7 feet worth) like you did was an incredible stroke of genius OR act of faith for which you were duly rewarded.
2) You traded shrewdly for my golden rod & reel, each of us walking away with much-valued treasure.

With heaven-sent fish and such a worthy weapon, how could you fail?

MikePeebles being cast upon the waters?  I doubt that was by the hand of the Walleye God.  More likely Nanabozho was the culprit.  I had sacrificed my Chota Portage boots & Goal Zero power pack and various other pieces of equipment to the little demon and suggested he have some fun &  provide some  entertainment for those who followed in our footsteps.  Sorry, Mike....
