Our dream of retiring to the North Shore of Lake Superior hit the rocks last fall as Mrs Salt was diagnosed with some health issues that will make moving north unwise. She needs to be in a warmer, more moderate climate away from extreme cold.

Our thoughts immediately turned to where should we go? We have 3 kids, living in Alaska, Minnesota, and Tennessee. Our daughter lives in Nashville. So we are now beginning a new search for our retirement location. We are not interested in living in Nashville as we wish to avoid population centers, preferring something more remote and rural. We would like to be within a 2-3 hour drive so that we can visit her and our granddaughter and they can visit us. Generally, we are thinking east of Nashville. Wondering about Dale Hollow lake area? We are looking for a home with a nice acreage so we can grow crops and have a few farm animals. The only part of Tennessee we have seen is around Nashville.
