Title: Mid September Mackinaw Tips?
Post by coosbo on Sep 9th, 2024 at 2:12pm
I’m an experienced angler, but new to lake trout fishing. While I’ve done quite a bit of research and feel like I understand the basics, I had a humbling experience in WCPP last year in early September. I’d love to hear any tips or recommendations from those of you with more region-specific or seasonal insights.

Next week (mid-September), we’ll be paddling through some of the large lakes in the northern part of Quetico (Quetico - Kasakokwog - McAlpine - Pickerel), and I’m really hoping to land a lake trout or two for some photos! From what I’ve read, it seems like they’ll be transitioning from their deeper summer habitats to shallower areas to feed around this time of year. Any advice you’re willing to share would be greatly appreciated. Appreciate your time and expertise!
