How to develop this new forum?

It's interesting that a couple of solo trippers are the ones who start this ball in motion.
I don't know what the possibilities here might be. I envision a place where those who are interested can post a more detailed profile. That could be used as a way to get in touch with potential partners.... or.... just to get to know each other a little better.
The best idea I've come up with so far for doing that is to lay out a base list of questions that you could paste into your post and everyone could fill in their own answers.
Perhaps there is a better way?
Open to ideas.   ???

It is interesting isn't it.

Tripper and Jimbo are the only people I've shared a campsite with that post here. I got to know both of them through their posts. That made our first rendezvous a no brainer and (btw) it was a nice way for me to end a solo trip - thanks again.

I think my next trip was actually the Cache Lake loop with tripper. Again, something I'm glad I did. I may never do those long soggy portages again but I'd go with tripper any time. (Even though coordinating gear was a pain for two people who normally solo.) I've also watched as trip reports from others who have gotten together end on a somewhat sour note.

If there is a better way I'd love to hear it.

I want this forum to be used to get together even if it's just "We're going to be here on this date and wouldn't mind company..."

It could also be used as "No one I know wants to do this trip with me... Anyone interested?"

It could also be used as a place for members to say "This is who I am... Here are the reasons I go. Here's where I've been, want to go and why... Here's what I could bring to a trip..."

A list of questions might help. Even if it wasn't followed.

If I didn't know better through experience, ya, I'd say this forum is a dumb idea. Then again so is calling a canoe trip a vacation! What this forum ends up being, only time will tell. To me, it's worth the effort to give it a decent shot.
