Basics
Where do you live?
Princeton, MN
Approximate number of previous nights spent canoe camping?
50ish
Do you have the gear or use an outfitterer?
All the gear and then some
Preferred/Typical party size?
Less than 5 preferred, last trip was 7 and too big
What length of trips do you do/available to do?
5-8, I'd go longer if I could talk my husband into it.
Preferred season?
Late August
What % of the trip do you travel/base camp?
I prefer to travel but we have a 2 year old now so it'll be basecamping mostly for a couple years
What difficulty level do you go for?
Middle of the road is as hard as I want to work on vacation
What area of the park are you most familiar with and do you want to spend time there or explore new areas?
Mostly Basswood/Agnes. I'm aching to get out further.

Paddling
Bow or stern preference?
  Stern
What is your paddling rhythm?
  Stroke... Breathe... Stroke... Breathe...
Paddle the shoreline or beeline?
  Depends on the wind.
How nasty of water are you comfortable paddling in?
  No whitecaps for me.
Do you have strong navigation/map skills?
Mediocre at best. I need my compass.

Portaging
Do you usually single/double/triple/or? portage?
  Double
Do you carry everything on your back, or alot of hand carry?
As much as possible in the packs. Only paddles in hand.
How well do you handle the mountain goat portages?
I don't mind steep terrain if it's not muddy between the rocks
How well do you handle the boot sucking bogs?
I hate it. I risk hopping on slippery rocks to avoid finding out if there's a bottom or not.

Camping Style
Would you rather cook or wash the dishes?
I'd rather cook. And for that matter I'd rather cook in the bakepacker so no one has to wash a crusty pan.
Fresh or dried foods?
Next year I'm doing my own dehydrating. I'm starting with what's in my garden this summer. Cheesy
Cook over a fire, or over a stove?
  stove
Cook breakfast or breakfast bars?
I prefer bars, or something simple like oatmeal. Husband expects a 5 star breakfast... I'll convert him soon enough. Wink
How many fish meals do you like to have during a trip?
Everyday if we'd catch that many but we're not mighty fishermen
Hang the food pack or ground it?
  ground
Axe? Saw? Both?
  Both
Sit around campfire all night OR wake at crack of dawn? (or both)
a little of each if the bugs aren't bad at night
On a travel day, what time do you like to hit the water?
  Before 8 am.

Fishing
How much time do you like to spend fishing?
Minimal. If they aren't biting right away, why waste my time. I could be napping in the hammock!
Are you good with a fillet knife?
That's my husband's job...

Misc
Do you have any medical conditions to be considered?
  not yet...
Level of alcohol consumption?
  not a drinker
Is photography high on your list?
It's very high on my list. I pack a 35mm and multiple lenses with plenty of film. ya never know. best to be prepared for that moose that wanders in close.
Do you like to go after pictographs?
I like to see them if it's on the way, but i'm not going too far out of the way to see them.
Do you like to go after waterfalls?
Yep, fun to take moving water photos.
Do you like to go after the northern lights?
I'd love to catch good lights once.

Personality
If the bugs are bad, will it ruin the trip for you?
I avoid bug dope until they're really getting on my nerves. But it doesn't ruin a trip.
What weather conditions are difficult for you to deal with?
  Windbound... Sad
If we've got a problem, would you rather discuss it or bury it?
Depends on the problem. A rational camping/packing/paddling problem, let's fix it. Personal problem... Where's my poop scoop!
Other than illness or injury what events or conditions would make you want to quit a trip early and head home?
I've been tempted due to party members having emotional meltdowns/adult temper tantrums, but it hasn't happened yet. Next year it's just us (me, hubby and son). Hopefully that eliminates past issues with other paddlers.

How well do you handle the mountain goat portages? I may gently put a canoe down once or twice for a breather, but otherwise, it just makes you appreciate paddling more.

How well do you handle the boot sucking bogs?  They usually aren’t that difficult.

Would you rather cook or wash the dishes?  Take turns

Fresh or dried foods?  Dried, though I’d love to try fresh fare

If we've got a problem, would you rather discuss it or bury it?  Speak up. Don’t be passive-aggressive.

Other than illness or injury what events or conditions would make you want to quit a trip early and head home?  Haven’t found one yet, and we didn’t return early after going through the July 4th, 1999 storm.  I imagine that a lack of food would probably force me return early.
