On the weekend of May 14th and 15th.  qp along with buckeye and geofisher are planning our annual paddlefest.  As you may recall last May we paddle the Little Miami River near Marrow OH.  This year we are planning The Blue River in southern Indiana.  Just off of I 64 near Corydon IN.

Some of us will be camping on the 13th as well but mostly just to bring us good luck.   Shocked
All of you in the near by states even far away states are welcome to attend.  Email me for the details at

The planned paddle will be about 12 miles on Saturday to our campground then 12 miles Sunday with a pick up and canoes available for rent.  If you only want to do the Saturday that is an option for you too.
Let me know if you plan to attend?  Canoe rentals need to be reserved in advance for large parties we just need a head count.
I'm told lots of limestone cliffs along the river and even caves in the area.
Figure your travel time at 40 min northwest of Louisville KY,  2 1/2 hours south of Indy.  Two hours east of Evansville IN.  18 hours south of Ely MN   Grin
We have already contacted an outfitter in the area and we plan on starting at Fredricksburg IN at this time.

Ok heres the final details of next weeks paddle.
We are starting at Fredricksburg IN using Old Mill Canoe Rental if you need a rental.  They have a campground riverside which we will be using fro Sat night, some of us are camping on Friday night as well.  Those meeting on Friday night to camp we will meet at Old Mill Canoe Rental between 4 and 5 pm E.S.T.
My understanding of the way it works is like this.  We drive to the campground fri night.  leaving our cars there.  They will come and pick us up on Sat morning for the first paddle leg which starts in Fredricksburg.  We will on Sat paddle to the campground.
Camping Sat night there then putting in to paddle Sun morning to a take out 12 miles down river.  Which they pick us up and shuttle us back to the campground.    Those arriving on Sat morning I suggest you plan on meeting at Old Mill Canoe Rental by 10 am. (EST)  You can leave your car/trucks there I'll shuttle you to pick them up after the Sat paddle.
CAMPGROUND
It is primitive camping only.  No drinking water at the campground.  They will have firewood there for us and Buckeye and I will bring some too. Bring your tents, if you need a tent let me know.  A tarp might be a good idea as it might rain too. (This is a RAIN or SHINE event)  We have talked about a pitch in dinner on Sat night this is an option at this point nothing is concrete.  However there are some places to eat not far from the campground so we could opt to have pizza out or deliver is we choose, if you guys are interested or we can cook in camp?
COST
If you need a canoe please tell me asap.  I'll resereve one for you I need to have a head count so I can call on the 9th.  Rentals are $60 for Sat and Sun this includes shuttle fees, campground, paddles, PFD's, and Canoe.  If you are bringing your own canoe the shuddle fees will be $5 per canoe.  My understanding is they own the campground and there is no charge to us it.

I'm looking forward to seeing those of you I've met, again, and those I haven't met it will be nice to put a smile with a name.

Driving Directions
From Indy take I 65 south to I 265 west.  Take I 265 to I 64 west.   Shortly after getting on I 64 west you'll take US 150 west to Fredricksburg.  This is the easiest way.  You can cut thru at the I 65 and US 56 intersection (Scotsburg IN) and then US 135 south if you choose this would only cut 20 min off the trip.
From Louisville take I 64 west to US 150
From Evansville Take I 64 east to US 150 west as above.
Email me if you need maps.
