Looking to rent a cabin

Hello. I've been cruising this site recently for fishing info and thought maybe it would be a good place to look for info on renting a place for a weekend. I'll post what I'm looking for and if anyone has a place they'd rent me or could put me in the right direction it would be appreciated!

Need: a modest cabin on a lake like Vermillion or anywhere else in Northern Minnesota. Must be near a boat dock with access for my friend's 18' boat.

When? August 19 - the morning of the 21st

I'll be headed up that way and meeting some old friends for a weekend of fishing. The resorts with fancy web pages are just more than we're looking to spend, but if you have something please make an honest offer and send a couple pics and info. My friends and I are clean and will take care of the place. There will be six or so of us, but space is really no big deal as we'll spend most of the day fishing and will all have sleeping bags.

Sunday we'll be going back to the twin cities, but Monday my buddy and I will be putting in the boundary waters for at least a week on kayaks!

So if anyone can help or cares to pass this along please do.

Thanks,

Mike (FiveWeight if you see me on any other fishing boards)

Let me clarify - when I said the rates I found online were too high, I was only finding high-end resorts at about 450/night. They'll rent you a smaller cabin but with a 30 dollar charge per person it comes out to just as much so I'd say we're looking to pay in the 500 range for two and a half days, two nights.

A smaller (1000-10,000 acre) lake would be ideal too.

Are you looking to paddle or use a motor?  Nothing I know of for rent is any longer cheap that is available for a wink and a shmooze.

I don't know the rates but I checked a a point called..Rivers Point recently that is noisy but allows motors along South Kawishiwi?  Could have been a bad dream.

Thanks for the info Kawashiway, but we were somehow able to stumble onto a place that fit the bill at Tamarack Resort on Burntside lake. I don't know anything about it other than that's where Brandenburg takes a lot of his famous photos. We will be taking my buddy's boat that weekend and dropping it off in Minneapolis on Sunday along with everyone else. Then the two of us will take some kayaks into BWCA for a week or so, paddling up Basswood lake to about Saturday Bay.

If anyone has any advice for Burntside lake or knows anything about this cabin place it would be appreciated.

If you are looking for a cabin during thoose dates we do have one available.  We are located on Farm lake just outside of Ely and have access to the BWCA via the Kawishiwi river.  You can launch your boat at the public access which is only .10 mile down the road.  Check us out on the web or give us a call.  (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)
