I was at Lake Cumberland power boating this weekend and began to think that it may make an interesting spot in early spring (before the power boaters arrive in drovers) or in late fall (after all the power boaters put their boats up for winter).

Has anyone tried Lake Cumberland?

Was there years ago with my folks. There are some nice trout in the tailwaters. As you would know if you were just there, the water is amazingly clear and half the lake glows an emerald color. Striper fishing is huge there. I fished for bass and didn't do especially well but it was mid summer and in that clear water they were deep down.

One interesting thing about that lake is they don't recommend you even bring an anchor. the lake is 300 feet deep and the slope is so steep along the bottom an anchor will just roll around until it takes out all your rope.

My family lost an anchor there when I was a kid.  My dad told me to toss the anchor out, and I did.  As I see the end of the rope go out, I hear him say tie the end so it doesn’t go over.  :-o   Tongue It is funny now, but it wasn’t then.
