Anyone kayak the North Shore?

A neighbor and I are hoping to go for a three-day kayak trip in late August or early September.  My preliminary research has yielded some good materials - (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Any must sees along the North Shore while paddling?  Are campsites tough to secure? Much of my research suggests that a majority of the property is privately owned.  Any other helpful tips?

TIA

I haven't paddled the North Shore. I paddled The Slate Islands in Canada, Isle Royale (I am going up there in August to do a circumnaviagation) and Pictured Rocks.
I have thought about the Water Trail up there, I think it is the Superior Water Trail.
This may help:

They just fished a kayaker out of the big lake the other day.  One of those adventure types.  Apparantly got caught in the rough water where the Michipicotan (sp?) enters the lake.  No PFD on, of course.

I do occasionally.  My parents own a place near the sucker river outlet.  Are you looking to camp at actual campsites, or just on the shore?

If you're headed right out of Duluth, PM me, I can give you some camping spot ideas. Smiley

We won't be kayaking the North Shore this year.  Hopefully we can make it next summer.  I will have to remember this topic if we decide to kayak for an extended weekend.
