This post deserves note that Stumpy recommend this read some time ago on the new QJ forum.

It is a complete guide to food, shelter, and self-preservation... anywhere.  The reading is easy.   It comes in a thick, durable hard cover with strong bindings meant to take heavy use.  The author keeps the readers attention in a topic that can be dry (IE some military manuals).  If memory serves me correctly the author has been consulted in the writings of gov survival manuals as well.  The book was originally published as "Living Off The Country"
