This is a nice read about Furtman and his wife who live for the summer on Basswood Lake, up near Lower Basswood falls.   They are BWCA "rangers" and patrol Basswood and Crooked Lakes.  The author pretty much goes through his diary for the summer and tells stories about his happenings that summer.  I thought it was a good book to read and was one of those books that go me through my spring fever for that year.

My wife and I visited the reamins of the old cabin last summer, the boat houes is still there though. That cabin frame wasn't very big, looked like they had to be kinda cozy for the summer.
