As much as I know you hate sucking up DB, this is appreciated.

FWIW AFAIK - solotripping began with a static link to QJ and today I found a good excuse to return the favor as best I can.

I've never looked at other boards as competition but I understand why people might. Yet there has always been a broader community full of individuals looking to follow their bliss with a goal and a purpose. I expect certain crossover visitors appreciate efficiency or a certain flavor or whatever. Some just gobble up whatever info they can. A few share what they know or gleaned wherever they see fit.

What was the old SNL joke? You can never add too much water? There's a whole slew of canoe camping type forums. Some seem to have been still born and exist on life support, some survive and grow, some simply continue to smell funny while others simply disappear. There's a kind-of a natural ebb and flow going on for those who pay attention. There's some really good plain ol' personal sites too if you know where to look.

Personally, currently, my greatest fear is if myccr.com actually slips into limbo land on the 7th. (It's been limping lately and not all registrars play fair ya know.) I'd consider that a major loss to the broader paddling community as a whole.

I'll take note of the lhrimages one I like his site. I noticed it is set up the exact same way as QJ. However all I bring along for photography is my small camera. And I don't solo in the bwca so that site isn't right for me.

Agreed. That is a good forum, with a large community and a lot of info. Richard (their db), burned himself out not long ago trying to bear the whole burden himself. I haven't been over there in a while, is that still the ongoing issue?

In case it crashes and burns, you may want to print off any useful info. Wink

I will really miss CCR...will take time tomorrow to sit down and print off alot of information there for future refre.

This is a good site for me..being in Thunder Bay and paddling Quetico..

I hope CCR survives..

Glad I found this wonderful site.

Welcome Debbie, it's really not the same w/o Richard anyway for some reason. I doubt it would go down but that is kind-of a milestone date.

The last official word I know of is Richard's posts in (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links). Starting post and pg8. That's the public face on it anyway.

Funny thing. Along with the well wishers and ravens, there is a spam post locked in that thread.

I have often wished that Quiet Journey could be expanded to include a greater geographic area. I enjoy the feel of the site and good nature of those who post here.  Even though I wish that the area represented could be extended I would hate to see anything happen to change the look, feel and flavor of this site, so I'll just enjoy what I've got! smiley=dankk2.gif]

Best regards,
Chuck
